Hello Sweet Summer

Hello Beautiful Ladies of Calgary and Beyond!

This is my favorite time of year, well actually the heat of summer is but we only get about a day and a half (slight exaggeration ?) of it so now is close enough. Let's talk summer!! Now is the time to start getting your wardrobe out of the great depression of winter  and start resurrecting and buying color, pattern, and pieces that will keep you cool and comfortable and looking gorgeous all summer long. This year we are lucky with the colour palette that's out. No more shades of grey and boring pastels, even though we love them, it's about bright colours, floral patterns, modernized tie-dye, crochet, and lots of skin.

First off, let's take a look at the colour palette so we know what we're dealing with. We are seeing a lot of pairing soft pastels with vivid brights to create a colorful equilibrium. Inspired by a mixture of blooming flowers, travels abroad and strong, confident women. Three very adaptable pastels sit on one end of the palette, and, because we are so accustomed to seeing them as nature's background, they can be creatively combined with any other color in the spectrum. Placid Blue, Violet Tulip and Hemlock, are lovely romantic vintage inspired summer colours. Pair any of these versatile pastels with a bolder hue for an au courant look. Sand, is my favorite neutral. It can be paired with anything else to conjure feelings and images of the beach and the carefree days of summer. Pair any neutral with one or two bold colors for a more bold and spicy look.

Now let's get on with the show!

Color Peeps Skin Peeps & Crochet

If colour tends to send you running in the other direction of the spectrum you can take a breather with this colour-shy trend. Peek-a-boo colors ease you into the seasons spirit without pushing you out of your comfort zone. Keep it simple up top with a neutral or black top and add these sneaky colored shorts for a simple yet fun and flirty look.

Don't be afraid to show a little skin either. Just make it tasteful by choosing what you want to highlight, and covering what you don't.

Crochet is back and hotter than ever. Stop thinking you'll look like something your grandma made and take a look at how cute these outfits look.

Boho-Hippy Chic

Tie-Dye has been modernized and doesn't remotely look like the spirally rainbow crap it use to. With a more sophisticated feel this look is perfect for summer and ** for fall.

Chunky Accessories

The chunk never really leaves us, it just re-invents itself. This season it's about pastels, beads, and bright stones. Sitting around the collar bone one of these necklaces can be worn with a simple t-shirt or a sexy summer dress. Since accessory colours don't drastically change from season to season, what you buy now you can continue wearing into following years to come.

Let's get this season started! Goodbye winter and Hello...

Ps: All of the above pictures are all items we have at the Sisters Boutique and on our Online store.
